Membership is free at present and open to any person residing in Australia who has completed a course recognised by the Australian Dietetics Council.
To be recognised as an Australian Independent Dietitian-Nutritionist (AIDN), members must have been free from relevant industry ties for a minimum of 12 months. Members who are not eligible for AIDN status retain the status of Associate Member until they have been free from relevant industry ties for at least 12 months. All members must have an up-to-date LinkedIn profile which details their relationship with relevant industry organisations.
The Society for Australian Independent Dietitian-Nutritionists deems the following types of organisations to be relevant to the practise of dietetics:

Associate Membership
If you are a dietitian who is not currently practising or who has received payment, merchandise or 'gifts in kind' from relevant industry as listed above during the past 12 months please use this form to register as an Associate Membership: https://goo.gl/forms/pLHFM5DEpJEBvevh1
Both AIDNs and Associate Members are listed on the relevant registry pages (there are no 'invisible' members) and must have an up-to-date LinkedIn profile detailing their past and current financial relationships.

- Primary Producers (plant or animal farmers/cultivators)
- Pharmaceutical Industry (including enteral feeds, TPN, HPHE supplements, feeding equipment etc)
- Supplement Industry (including herbal and nutrient supplements, protein shakes, CAM products etc)
- Weight loss products/devices (including meal replacements, teas, fitness equipment marketed for weight loss)
- Weight loss surgery (including bariatric surgery clinics, bariatric surgical equipment)
